Ulrieke Benner is a professional fabric designer, energy worker, and educator living and creating her textile art on Salt Spring Island since 2001. She studied Textile Design in Aachen and Muenster, Germany and in Massachusetts and has a M.Ed. and BFA in Textile Design and Fiber Art. Since 1996 she has been a full-time feltmaker, creating art and beauty for textile lovers worldwide.

Ulrieke works with wool and silk to produce vibrantly colored, one-of-a-kind wearable art accessories and clothing. As a certified Reiki and Access Bars practitioner and also a color consultant, her pieces hold the vibrations of color, healing and light, naturally transmitted by her art.

The fabric for all her clothing is handmade out of natural materials - in her collection ‘art you wear’ she uses finest merino wool for her accessory scarves, shawls, and hats. For the fabrics and clothing, she felts the wool into silk in a wet-rolling technique. The rich colors she uses produce striking creations that are distinctive - and every piece is absolutely unique.

Her wall art and décor pieces are designed for homes and public buildings. In these pieces she combines painting, collage, stitching and appliqué on silk and felt. Her work is exhibited in fine galleries and exclusive clothing boutiques in Vancouver, Victoria, and Toronto. She exhibits and sells her art in fine boutiques in the United States, Japan and Europe.

Ulrieke has lived and worked on Salt Spring Island, British Columbia, since 2001. She designs her wearable and wall art in her studio gallery close to Ganges. Call or text for an appointment, 250-537-1723. Come by and be inspired!
